  • Can someone identify my charvel by serial number and description?!

I know the neck has been replaced but the body is black, one hum, one volume knob, one tone knob (which is now my kill switch), black (wilkinson?) trem, vintage looking but beefier.

The neck plate has the PO Box 2344, Forth Worth address on it with the serial number 267948.

I'm guessing its a mid 80s import model that would originally have had a pointy headstock?

Any help much appreciated. This is the best guitar I have ever owned and I literally wouldn't sell it for anything.

    Thanks,
    tim

Definately not a Kahler. Its like a heavy duty vintage trem, all black. I lost the arm but it was thicker than a normal vintage trem arm with no "handle end" just a bar. I'll see what the make of the trem is later, maybe take a pic.

could be a Kahler 2500 Fulcrum trem, sounds like an 86 model 2 or a Model 1 if it is a v-trem

It's a model one body then only non locking trem . I think it's a gotoh v trem?. the tone knob was added.

Could well be a Gotoh trem. I'll be home soon and let you know. I wish they hadn't added the tone hole, although I do use it for a kill switch now which is a nice touch. I have a feeling this is going to end badly and not be a Charvel body at all. Still my fave guitar of the 50/60 I have owned.

Modded Model 1 body. Should have a SD type cavity cover. Also, check the neck pocket. They usually had something stamped inside them.

Sounds like a stock Model 1 body with a tone knob drilled. Model 1's came with a black V-trem.

Cool pics. Take a further back one of the body top so we can see the tone hole that was drilled.

I've never had a Model 1 so I'm not sure if that's the original trem or something else.

                      What pickup is in there?

I put an SD JB in there so its not original. I'm begininng to doubt it is a Charvel now to be honest.

looks like the bride on a model 1 and that sure looks like a huge pickup ring for the oversized pickup covers.

I agree with Rich. Looks like a real Charvel to me. In addition to a full front body shot, take a picture of the entire backside so that we can see the control cavity route.

That's totally a Model 1 body. I don't need to see the back to say that.
