  • Are Charvel San Dimas guitars made in the US?

    Hey guys,
I looked around on the web, but I'm still confused. I'm sure someone can explain this matter of factly...are the Charvel San Dimas line made in the US? Is the Japanese version of this called the promod? I'm so confused...

    Thanks in advance!

when they first came back they were made in the usa, in the fender factory. they switched to the japanese factory that has made the japanese charvel jacksons since the beginiin. usa production japanese promods(which was our nickname here for the usas) Many say the japanese ones were better made. I like both but like the neck shape of the usas better

Thanks Rich..no wonder I was confused...because they were made in both places! haha so...that being said, how can you tell if the san dimas is made in the us or japan? I see a made in the usa on the headstock, but that's about it...

the neck plate too, the colors, the san dimas that are direct mount are japanese(a few USAs with one hum were direct mount), the neck shape are C shape on the usa and the japanese are D shaped(almost model sieries on some). You can't really go wrong with either. the have the same hardware and same woods.

Hmm...I have a slime green, I assume that's U.S...I really like that neck, so thanks for the info, I'd be really sad(prolly) if I got a Japanese one with a different neck shape!
