  • More maple fretboards from Jackson.

Just heard Jackson's starting to make a new line with maple fretboards.

    Heres the link

I kind of like the idea of more maple, but they kind of have a different look from your average Jackson.

    What do you guys think.

I think they're nice overall, but I really don't like the left-aligned dot inlays. If Jackson wanted go with an inlay other than the 'tried & true' sharkfin, they should've gone with pirahnas... A less common, but still distinctly Jackson-style inlay.

    Just my $0.02...

I'd have to see the necks in person. Sort of retro to the mid 90s when a lot of models had offset dots.

I kind of like it. I agree with metal spawn too, sharkfins or piranha inlays would have looked cooler.

Perhaps if they had put the dots under the 5th string and back a bit, closer to the fret, they could easily be modded for fins, whether with decals or woodwork.

But yeah, dots on a Strat-type are ok, but if they're planning on Kellys and Vs......

heh, what am I saying? They'd never offer a maple-boarded KV, Kelly, or Warrior in the import line, much less one with fins. If they did, it'd have some retarded neck profile that only 3 people would like. 1-15/16" nut width, front bumper of a '49 Packard neck profile, vintage mini-me fretless-wonder frets, and an X-treme silly-cuts body with just a single-coil in the middle.

I wish jackson currently had more with maple. Cant wait to try these when they come out though. Any Jackson+maple (or ebony) is Beast.

Meh. Don't like that neckjoin (looks reminiscent of Ibeenhads and I suspect it may also cause issues - 3 instead of 4 screws??). I like sharkfin inlays.

I lot of people loved the Dk2m's with black sharkfins on them. I'm one of them

Black sharkfins probably wouldn't look good on these though.

I'm all for maple necks and ring-less pick-ups, but man those zebra PUs aren't my thing...

I like the full binding. Dots are cool with me. Im not a trem user, but maybe I could have a back up with one. The major thing for me is how high the neck sits off the body. I like the fret board right above the body...

+1 on the neck to body difference.
