Sully I honestly dont know they are the guys that do the finish work for TK Custom Guitars outta Denver. They seem to do strat bodies etc just fine but are having issues with this. The 2 bodies I posted are still intact, setback 1 happened because of this finish issue. I got a better top out of the deal though lol.

If I take the bodies raw ill likely end up just getting them painted unless sully or mike are interested and the price wont rape me for more than I have already lost. I dunno what im gonna do yet.

Not familiar with TK Custom Guitars, but if the messed up one will be retopped, by all means, send them unfinished to Mike. He's got a quilt top V of mine that will get a Broderick style trans white. I'm sending him all of my paint work going forward. Curious about the finish issue you had on yours, though.

Me too. I can see getting darker edges of the points with an airbrush doing a straight stain, didn't realize it was a burst, but if the back and sides were the darkest color of the burst seems it should work out ok.
Is the the burst on the pink trans pink to dark pink? The black i can't really see where the problem would be there.

Plus i'd like to know how you might tackle doing these finishes Sully.

I didnt actually see the issue just the aftermath where these dude mangled the shit out of it if I still have the text ill get the pic on here somehow but I dont know that I saved it. I will call mike with the prepped pics of the guitars and ask what he would charge. I really dont have the money to move forward with anything right now but at least ill know what to shoot for. I had a smokin deal going on these as I did some things to help them out. I know I will get a chunk back if they arent finished but we havent discussed that far yet. No idea where im gonna go with this YET. I have another body I really wanted to have Mike do first but I have prosttinated on it forever as I keep changing my mind on finishes, now that I have settled on one im up in the air on doing it myself or having him do it. I did a tester on another body we will see how it comes out I shot a body in large ruby red flake.

Paint and holographics I can generally handle stains and trans I have never done anything with and dont even know where to start. Ill prob practice sometime here but sure as shit not on these bodies.

oh and fwiw the dude im working with at TK doesnt get what the issue is either the people hes working with seem to be making excuses more than anything. Thus far Tim has seemingly been honest with me and had some issues that have held up communication but it was a great deal on something I wanted and it was with a person that I get along with so it is what it is. I cant really see a reason for him to lie to me.

Yeah, the "mangled" is what I don't get; especially if it was in the paint stage. Either way, I'm sure that Mike isn't as expensive as people would assume, and my god, there is NO better person to work with. He's an awesome mix of crazy talented and insanely nice. Even if you sent them to him after a while, it'd be well worth it.

Mike's work is some of the best I've ever seen. If I'm gonna paint anything after the fact, there isn't really anyone else I'd consider these days. His work is just phenomenal and he's even giving away a free paint job, and the odds of winning are really high since traffic here isn't all that high. Next time I have any paint issue, I'm going to Mike just on principle.
