So byebye jackson and hello ESP.
Nightbat, all I expect of my favorite name brand is to hold onto a specific level of quality.
There's the problem I'm having, it won't be a specific level, not while so many other brands are produced in exactly the same plant
In the end there should be a reason why I'm buying something with "Jackson" on the HS
There should be a reason why it is my favorite brandname, being exactly the same as any of the other brands produced there
removes the reason "specific level of quality", which if you ask me, was one that was pretty important in making J/C stand out from the crowd

Yeah, well you know what I mean. We may not completely agree on specifics, but I think we're on the same page.

I can understand this part way but the hole in this argument for me is the Mexican built bolt-ons. Mexican built Fenders get really good reviews and write-ups and people I know that have them say they are solid guitars, I've read that a few times here on jcf too. Based on this we can expect a "specific level of quality" that is considered "good". Okay, so it's a new manufacturing location, but it's not like Jackson have not done that before and have it work out.

I can't say that Mexico won't be better than India or wherever, but Mexican quality is far better than the Chinese Charvels and Indonesian Jacksons...

The trouble is: Jackson became a Brand, not a Product
J/C MiM? Might as well buy a Fender
J/C MiK? Might as well buy an ESP
J/C MiC? Might as well get an Agile
Was Jackson/Charvel it's own entity with its own facilities before, now (apart from its US Production)
it's part of the rest

But a MiX Fender/ESP/Agile is not a J/C.
What is the difference between "brand" and "product", the size of the operation?
Does it make any difference where the "product" is made if it's the same as the item that was built in another factory?
These new "DK2M Pro" guitars are obviously not the same as the DK2M from the Japanese factory because they are built somewhere else, but, they have a Dinky body, a compound radius fret board and a Jackson pointy headstock, these are the features I expect of a Jackson guitar, the guitar being a product that is manufactured by a brand.
Would I rather have a Japanese Jackson? Yes. Am I willing to accept a Mexican Jackson? If it's got the features I expect at the right price and plays then yes.

That's a pretty dumb thing to say. That's like saying Coca Cola, Sprite and Fanta are exactly the same thing - they are all soft drink 'products' made by different 'brands'. But they are completely different products in and of themselves. If i want a guitar with a 24 jumbo fret compound radius fretboard a pointy headstock, i'm not going to buy a Fender, ESP or Agile. I will buy a Jackson.

Actually, you should have used Coca Cola and Pepsi as examples
Since Coca Cola, Sprite and Fanta are RR, Soloist and Kelly, different products by the same brand
As I'm stating it, coca cola and pepsi are gonna be produced in the same factory
In my country, pepsi is made under licence by a 3rd party producer (which holds a number of different brands' licences), while coca cola has it's own plant
personally, I think something like that shows some brand integrity, that the product is exclusive to the brand

and since I'm not that picky, if I'm gonna spend €800 on a guitar I'd have no problem choosing a MiK BCR over a MiI-sia Jackson
