Re: Jackson Speed Neck

I have not bought a Warrior(WR1 USA) yet, because I was told the older warriors had the Soloist neck profile, and the newer ones have the Speed Neck, can someone please tell me if this is true or false? Jack.

Re: Jackson Speed Neck

My 2002 Warrior WR-1 has a speed neck but I`m sure has slightly thinner Frets than usual. This neck is very similar to my King V although is un-finished. The thinnest of all though is my DK-1 (22 Fret version), a truly superb neck. I did have a 2000 SL-1 but I found the neck was too deep for me, thicker than both of my `89 Soloists.

Theres a turn up for the books, anyone have a catalogue with a KV3 in it so that they can tell me the neck profile? Ive played a DK-1 and liked that neck. I have noticed that the indian X series seemed to have fatter necks than my Japanese KV3 - comments on that?

None of the catalogs I have mention anything specific about neck profiles. But you don't have a speed neck - they don't custom profile import necks that way. It's a custom option. I wouldn't get too wrapped around the axles there. You just have a nice neck on a nice import Jackson. That's what makes these guitars so damn good!

which on Kellys and King V's are
3rd Fret: .775”, 12th Fret: .835”

On Rhoads and Soloists they are thicker
3rd Fret: .790”, 12th Fret: .850”

Guess I was confusing Speed Neck and Neck Dimensions

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Well considering that the major factor that most people think about when referring to the speed neck is how thin it is, the neck dimensions are a good way to look at it.

And I think what Chris meant when he said none of the catalogs have specs on "profile", he meant backshape. i.e., (Borrowing some Fender parlance ...) Is the back of the neck more of a "C", "D", "U", "V", etc. shape?

Re: Jackson Speed Neck

My suggestion would be to measure your neck. I wouls say measure how thick it is (top of fretboard to back of neck) at the 3rd fret & the 12th fret. Then measure how wide the fretboard is at the nut, 3rd fret and 12th fret. You might even want to measure the radius of the fretboard. Then you will know what the dimensions of the KV3 neck are and be able to compare it to other necks.

I'm loving the Jaded Faith mods. Going Egnater Dual mod route: Voxless, SL-OD100, Brahma #39, QuickMod GT

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">aha, thanks for that! So the kv3 dimensions do not match any current jacksons. Due to where i live (Britain) not having many large jackson dealers, i have never seen a KV other than a KVX-10 and my KV-3. I think i better keep it then, just a shame about the square neck joint
