I figured I'd take this opportunity to introduce myself to the forum considering Matt at OSG was kind enough to recommend my shop as a Jackson dealer to you.
For those that are interested, here's a brief background on myself and my shop. I was a member of Geffen recording artist Adam Bomb in 1987. After that I moved to CA and graduated from GIT in 1988. While in CA I heard that Dio was looking for a new guitarist, I submitted my demo and got asked to audition. In an effort to make the audition process easy on the band, only 5 people out of something like 2000 submissions were chosen to audition. I was one of the 5 along with Doug Aldrich and a couple other guys. After all was said and done, I made it down to the #2 slot and got cut. Soon after, I met a singer named Zack Trussell who was attending VIT. We wrote some songs together and after we graduated from MI, we moved back to my home town of Boston and formed a band called Wicked Witch. We played the Boston scene for about 2 years, opened up for some big bands like Yngwie Malmsteen, Mr Big, Badlands and did demo work with producer Bob St John of Collective Soul fame. In the end, Zack and Jeff (the drummer in Wicked Witch) caught the attention of Savatage and were asked to join the band. After Wicked Witch folded I took a couple years off and formed a band called Trigger Effect. Trigger Effect toured with Iron Maiden on their Brave New World tour in 2000 with Rob Halford and Queensryche. The band was also chosen as one of the 16 best unsigned bands in the USA by Sam Goody record stores, did some demo work with Grammy winning producer Neil Kernon and did opening sets for Skid Row, Kings X, Union, Anthrax, Flotsam and Jetsom, Ratt and a bunch of other bands.
As for my retail experience, I started working in a shop in 1985 taking out trash and polishing guitars. Before I knew it I was running the store for the owner and in 1996 I went off on my own to start Matts Music. Since then, my shop has grown into 2 shops that teach about 300 students per week and will hopefully break a million in sales this year. As for my experience with Jackson guitars, I bought a used Jackson bolt on strat in 1996 and have played nothing but Jackson guitars since. I've been selling them since 1992 and for the last 4 years I've been playing a USA JJP that's been modified a couple times.
In closing, I've got a decent amount of experience playing and selling Jackson guitars, so if there's anything I can do to help out any of the forum members, just ask!
