thats false, the great brands choice agatshit and that woods so they can charge more for the brand price, but actually chinese do very good alder guitars, i good a J&d jazz bass, same brand as essex from hondo music, an its a solid alder body

the cheaps yamahas got alder too, except the cheaper model, and there its too a ibanez strat big apple with alder body
