Re: MATT\'S MUSIC

What the hell, I'm the rookie on the board so I'll give this whole thing a shot. If it doesn't work out than so be it. It sounds like a single humbucker Soloist might be a good place to start. Are there 10 JCF'ers that would be interested in something like this?

Hey what kick ass looking guitars!

Ahhh, the "What do you wanna see for 02?" thread.
Probably the single most entertaining thread I ever read here.

Looks like single hum and non recessed floyd are popular

Matt, I think you should throw out some ideas (options) and get feed back then send out the specs. Maybe a minor tweak or two after you get all the spec hammered out.

I am!

I think 1 1hum string through soloist is the good start.
Simple the best.

Matt, like other older members said, you should go with your own specs and offer us your custom guitar!
When it comes to limited edition guitars, people will buy these.
Some buy because they want to play and others want because they are limited edition.
You shouldn't be having probem selling these as I have seen Onlinestage sold out every limited edition guitars fast.

Matt, don't necessarily be overconfident about your ability to sell 10 pieces here alone. IMHO, one of the reasons OSG was relatively successful at the "special edition" thing was because they had a reputation for and could advertise their low, low prices. That's not the case for you. (...Advertising, I mean. I'm sure you're working on the reputation thing, anyway. )

And - with all due respect to my fellow JCFrs - folks may be well intentioned in their discussions, but possibly change their tune when it comes time to open up a wallet. Particularly if just one little spec doesn't agree with their preferences.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to discourage this, and it'd be very cool. But you should go into it eyes wide open. Seller beware.

Re: MATT\'S MUSIC

I could go for a single hum. I would just like to see something "special" that sets it off from the rest of the line-up (the reversed shark-fins?).

Why don't you include a poll of the most popular choices?

For instance just start with the basics.....Soloist vs. 24-Fret Rhoads. After 3 days the most votes determines the general guitar. 2nd poll....single hum vs. H-S-H or H-H layout. Winner of this poll determines pup layout.

See where I'm going w/ this?

Re: MATT\'S MUSIC

Ok, I will throw out some specs, not going by select Series pricing, because, well this is a Special guitar

Soloist
1 Hum(whatever pickup)
Non Recessed Floyd
Mahogany Body and Neck
Regular Fins
Solid Color(not picky)
Just a Volume Knob
Black Hardware
Black or Creme Binding(either one)
Short Scale(prefered)
9-42 strings or 9-46(no big deal)
G&G Case

Iknow this sounds like alot of special features, but it is because these should be special guitars to us that we can be proud of and people when they see it will go-wow that is a unique Jackson man!! I already have a Black SL2H, so i want this puppy to be really special, and I hope you all do to, but Matt, if you want to choose your first Special run, Sir by all means you have that right and I will support you either way, even if the guitar is/isn`t for me, it`s all cool here Jack.

Re: MATT\'S MUSIC

Believe it or not, JCF members only accounted for about 20 percent of my Jackson sales, if that.

I wasn't arround when the JCF was being planned, but from the run I tried to put together for here, I can just imagine. I would get alot of "It HAS to have Swamp Ash Wings, or speed neck, or non-recessed trem, or stringthru...

Unless things have changed, you are stuck with just paint and hardware changes, which means take a normal Select series and do it in a graphic, or have it with EMG's or something along those lines.

Hey Matt, did you ever actually get enough people to agree on one model and do a run?

And BTW, what the heck is a meedley?

I managed to get a price on the guitar Jack Slayer spec'd out above. Because this isn't based on a USA Select guitar it's considered a custom shop piece. But, hypothetically if 10 guys were to order something like this there would be an additional discount available.

Matt, that was the funniest bit on this board since the St Anger spoof. I am going to forward that to everybody I know!
Thanks for sharing.
