Your best bet is probably a used RR3. I might even consider looking into the JS Series; they have really nice necks, play real nice and even the stock pickups aren't bad. The hardware is a bit on the cheap side as you'd expect though.
It's all about the blues-rock chatter.

Yeah, I'd check-around and see what you can get used for that cash. I did buy a JS32T when I started playing again a while back, got it for @ $250 and was actually surprised, it was a good guitar considering the price.

RR3 is a great guitar. I'm always impressed with the quality every time I pick mine up and play it.

The JS series are great players but hardware quality means they won't last like their better siblings, I'd go for an RR3. The trick is to find one without damaged points.

you'll probably have a better chance of finding a nice used RX10D in that price range.

I can't speak for the RR3 or the JS but I bought a Jackson Concept RR used off eBay a few years back for about $200. I did put more money into it to change the hardware and electronics but it does play great and it is very light. It's chewed up a little on the tips but it's a great beater. You may have better luck finding a RR3 in a store and trying it out, if you like it try and find a used one. Used is the way to go if yo're trying to save some money. I personally enjoyed fixing it up the used guitar as I learned a lot from the experience. It was my first time completely rewiring a guitar, came out great!

This is $50 over the $300 mark, but for what you're getting, it seems worth it:

I got my RR3 used for about $300, and I've seen them go for as little as $200.

I'd look for a RR3. On my local cl, you can find them for 200 or less. There still great guitars, everyone what's an ESP/LTD, I guess.
