I bought my Jackson JSX-94 Concept new in 1994. I love this guitar so much and generally anyone else who plays is it impressed...especially when I tell them that it's $199 Japanese model!
I love this guitar so much, mainly because of the super thin neck and the thin, tapered body. The neck is the sickest, fastest, thinnest neck and its shape and feel are unlike any other Jackson I've ever played. From what I've read, it may be the same as the JTX neck, but I still don't know what to call it or how I would order a guitar with that exact neck.
Here's what I need help with:
The neck: The name, any specs that make it "different," what to call the shape? Is it the same that came on the JDX-94 Concept (Nearly the same as the JSX, only it had a fixed bridge - a really bulky, ugly fixed bridge!)? If I were to order a custom shop guitar how would I request that neck?
The body: Is the body a Soloist? I thought the Concept and Soloist bodies were different, but now my research is leaving me confused.
I've done a lot to modify my JSX. I added active EMGs (I don't even recall the model anymore; I had the shop change them out before I brought it home from the shop.), the trem is blocked off (and about to be replaced due to age and general wear and tear), the tone knobs have been removed, the front and middle pick-ups were ripped out and probably some other tweaks that I'm forgetting at the moment. The goal is took make it a rhythm crunch machine. I don't really play leads, I only use the rear pick-up, etc...Basically, I've made this formerly sleak guitar an ugly beast...and I love it.
I'm curious, because I'd like to know more about my beloved anomoly axe and also because I would love to someday build a guitar that is exactly what I want: same body as the JSX, JSX style neck, rear pick-up only, volume knob only, fixed bridge... All from the factory and clean and neat. I've never come across a production model Jackson that is so stripped down and has that neck and body. Anyone know if it's ever been made? I love the Scott Ian signature models, but he did some stuff to that model that isn't up my alley. Still, it's a beautiful guitar.
Thanks in advance for any help!
