  • Guitar Center mix up ? [Pics]

Guitar Center gets it's fair share of ridicule regarding Jackson guitars and sometimes I can see why. I work in Pro Audio so my knowledge of other guitars are very slim. Jackson's though, I have loved since I was a kid and that's why I'm a member here. I am not as keen to all years and serial #'s as some users here but I can tell the difference in general of most models.

Recently a fellow employee said to me (cause he knows I love Jackson's), "did you see the used USA Soloist we got ?" I hadn't so I thought I'd go check it out. This is what I saw ....

Looks like a 05-08'ish SL3 to me (if they were even called that during that time period). I could be wrong though. I do see Rosewood fretboard and no USA logo on the headstock which immediately makes me think it's Japanese. Serial # 061875. Don't all USA models begin with a U or a J?

Yes, that's an import, but an SL3 would be H/S/S. An SL4 would be H/H but would also only have 22 frets. Maybe it's one of those Sam Ash exclusives that they incorrectly called an SL2H?

Thanks for the heads up toejam!

Wouldn't you say that 1199$ for that is way off? Should be around 4-650$'ish right? A true used USA SL2H would go for around 11-1300$'ish depending on condition.

I think (possibly) whatever customer brought this in didn't know what they had exactly AND our guitar associate (no guys at our our store know Jackson at all) didn't know what they were looking for and this was the end result lol.

$1199 for that guitar is insane.
$450 maybe. I see rust on the frets in one of the pics, so it has not been well cared for or stored.

Edit: and Joe is correct... this is one of those Sam Ash SL2H imports, not a USA.

The one on the left is the Sam Ash import SL2H and the one on the right is a USA SL2H

Yep. Sam Ash. What is funny is somebody was just talking about the other Sam Ash model (metalic black with EMGs) in another thread.

It doesn't look too bad. I might even go $500-$600 if it had a case.

Nice Japanese made guitars, but you can do much better on the price, I think.

$500 $600 if its not beat up and you get the original case too.

A mix up at Guitar Center???? The hell you say????
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

So I showed the store manager this thread and he feels terrible. He is going to be adjusting the price accordingly. New rule too in the store we work at, all guitar associates will check with me before buying any used Jacksons lol.

                      NGD coming soon ....
                      I ordered a new RR1
