  • Neal Schon's Jackson?

Does anyone know the model Jackson that Neal Schon used back in the Journey days? It was a neckthrough that the strings loaded from the back. He had a couple different colors of this same model. A pic would be nice if anyone has one.

    Thanks
    Tim

This one looks like it was highly abused and would cost more to fix it than to have a new one made.

              Re: Neal Schon\'s Jackson?

They were Schon guitars made by Jackson. They're easy to tell from the Larrivee. Larrivee had 22 frets no string thru the body and no made in U.S.A. The one that Newc has from ebay is a Larrivee. Jackson were made only in 1986, Larrivee made most of the rest from 1987-90. ( Guild made a few prototypes in 88) Jackson made 3 models all single cutaways. Larrivee made 8 models that I've seen or have seen pictures of.

This page also has some interesting information on the Larrivee Schons.

                    Larrive Electrics

Says something about Larrivee using a 25 5/8 inch scale length for all of their electrics. I thought that was interesting, I haven't heard of another manufacturer using that scale length.

If you want one, a local music store in my city, where Neal lives, has a few of them for sale at reasonable prices.

They were Jacksons, and they were asking around $7-800 each. I don't know the specific models.

A little off topic. Here is a link to some of Neal's personal guitars for sale. They all have sustainers on them and they are NOT cheap.

I don't guarantee they're still there of course. I was last there 2-3 weeks ago.
