  • Charvel/Jackson mahogany

    Hey guys,

    Is this thing for real?
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/200976026237...84.m1438.l2649

I`m about to buy it locally here in Montreal, but I don`t seem to find any real information in her regard.
Would someone please help me take the right decision?

    Cheers

Yes it's a San Dimas 1 good price too. It is an early one also, they had Jackson neck plates.

That's not Mahogany, that's Lacewood, FYI.

I contacted the seller about that, because I thought it might have been lacewood too. He reckons it's mahogany but I'm not 100% convinced. If it is lacewood though, it's very tight figuring - most I've seen are much more obviously not mahogany.

You can tell by the tight, almost symmetrical grain pattern. Mahogany isn't as consistently grained like that... do a Google image search for lacewood. Lacewood is awesome though, Id love to have it!

When I bought this one (gone now) I was told it was lacewood and it turned out to be mahogany

Yeah. Looks like Lacewood to me too now. Definitely not mahogany.
                  It`s also quite light.

Yep ,dense Lacewood in its glorious splendor.

Just got it(for less than the list was) , fiddling a bit with the setup and later I`ll take some pics.

                  Thanks all!

Nice grab! I have a koa SD1 and used to have a mahogany, so was tempted to get this one just so I could say I'd had all three LOL
