• New Here

Hey, how's it going? I'm new to these boards and new to Jackson. I play guitar and bass... right now, my gear consists of an Epiphone Les Paul Standard, a Squier P-bass Special w/Basslines QPs and the old Strat I got started on. I was thinking about getting a new bass (possibly a Jackson) and just thought I'd hang out and get to know Jackson's instruments a bit better.

    It's cool to be here.

    Re: New Here

i am a bass player and i love my jacksons and charvel basses.i prefer the 80's & 90's charvels and jacksons (pointy heads only!)i don't know about the squires, but a buddy has a fender usa p-bass and his neck is alot fatter than my basses. for the money, you can't beat 86-89 charvel 3b,4b. they are neck thru with acive electronics and you can get them on the 'bay for about 300 give or that a few bucks i just bought an early san dimas neck thru jackson and the neck of my charvels feels exactly the same, though the jackson is a lot heavier!the great thing about the model series charvels is they are very consistant in feel and quality. check the gallery, as there's some killer basses in it. (some of them mine, and see the "it's here" posts in the bass section.)

Hey man. Welcome to the JCF. Jackson guitars are great...my first "real" guitar was a Jackson DXMG. It's great around here, you're sure to find the info. you're looking for.

Thanks, man. Are you familiar with the basses? Do you have any recommendations?

Also - what musical styles are you guys into? I play a wide variety of stuff (almost all of it rock-oriented). Punk, metal, thrash, classic rock, space rock. I like instruments that have outstanding tonal versatility, which is why I play Pauls, Strats and P-basses. I'm sure Jacksons do the job.

              Re: New Here

B.M.,I have a couple of strathead Charvels & some San Dimas Jackson Neck-thrus. I have owned a few Jackson basses though,a Concert bass with a rising sun graphic & a concert bass with the piezo system. Both were very nice, but the piezos weren't for me,Later Chuck

Incidentally, I'm almost sure I'm going to buy a KBX bass. Check out my Kelly thread over in the bass forum.
