Hammet returns to Jackson

Today I was on the ESP forum, because of I don't like those C/J imitations and I wanted to flame them.

I found an interesting topic on the board, saying that both Hammet and Hetfield will leave ESP. Hammet will return to Jackson and Hetfield will go to Gibson. It's just what the ESP forum says.

i watched kirk play an Ibanez RG570 (i think)in concert.he used it for his guitar solo.

Yeah, I've also seen Kirk play a black Ibanez RG. That's usually the guitar he smashes on stage. I think his tech rebuilds it, unless he's got a few. I've also seen a pic of him with a black Iceman.

He got a black Rhoads in '85, has a Roswell Rhoads, and someone else said recently he had another Rhoads model. As far a him "returning" to Jackson... he was never a Jackson endorsee anyway, so just what would he be returning to? The guy's a gear wh0re and will play just about anything... not that there's anything wrong with that.

How is Kirk Hammett a gear *****? Him and ESP have been pretty monogamous over the years. Granted, they've always preferred Fenders and Gibsons... I think their being at ESP was just circumstantial.

Anyway, I don't mind. A lot of people bash St. Anger... it wasn't a great album, but Metallica is an awesome band and any publicity is good publicity. You'd think you guys would be more supportive of the most attention-getting metal band in the world playing your favorite guitars.

Their live set OWNS, even today. I haven't seen them, but I've heard they only play one or two crappy St. Anger songs and mostly it's pre-"Black" awesomeness. [img]graemlins/band.gif[/img]

Yeah, that big ass hollow body is a super cool 1952ish Gibson ES-295...very rare and very cool guitar! However, I often felt he dragged that around as a status symbol. He did play it on the year and a half in the life movie, but again, I wonder if it was more or less for the cameras.

I agree they are not what they once were, nor stand for what they once did. However, he has exposed that Rhoads to millions of people, and he has exposed it consistantly. How many other Jackson guys changed models or specs almost every tour. To me it says alot when a guy plays ONE guitar for so many years. He can play anything and he can get paid to play anything, but he chooses to break that same old Rhoads out regularly for no money. To me that is pretty damn cool and pretty damn rare these days.

Well, why WOULD they leave ESP? Who's gonna pay them more? Nobody! They get to flout their endorsement by playing whatever they want live anyway, as ESP has obviously tolerated this with Metallica wheras they don't with lesser selling artists. So Metallica has the bst of both worlds: ESP pays them to play their stuff, and makes them free guitars in whatever form they want, yet they can play their Gibsons and Jacksons with impunity. They're not even honorable sellouts if you look at it that way! If you let yourself be bought you should STAY bought! [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Still, ESP makes money hand over fist on their deal with Metallica, which is why they get away with it.
