Re: New giveaway at JacksonGuitars.com
pretty lame. We europeans are pretty much screwed concearning guitars (US made ones, so the better guitars). All good guitars are simply too expensive over here and there is no secondhanded market for Jackson guitars (demandside is huge, offerside is ZERO). where in the US a soloist can be obtained from ebay for something like USD 800-1000, ok not mint or special ones, we have to pay at least 1500 for em. and abay is for us no option, because mostly they only ship to the continental US and now this... ADMIN EDIT: sorry llexi, but if you're offering this service, you're a dealer. while you're offering a valuable service, dealer posts like that aren't allowed on the board.

It's a drag for you of course, but the problem is EU taxes and import duties, as well as more costly shipping and yes, the rules that vary from country to country. You can't really blame Jackson for that.
Here in the USA they ship to the winner for probably $10 at their cost, and send him or her a tax form. The winner will probably have to pay sales tax and income tax on the value of the guitar; that's the way our contests work.
Ebay international shipping is a pain
because it's MUCH more costly and the
taxes add even more. Payment protection isn't available for the seller with Paypal or credit cards, and would you just do that on trust?
Some do, but it's not prudent.
You should find out the names of all the Euro distributors and start an email campaign to get them to band together and have their own contest. Maybe if several thousand people emailed them, they might consider the cost as useful promotion of the fact that a new distribution network
for Jackson is now in place there, since the collapse of the old network is well-known. It's worth getting some email addies and getting your friends to spread the word. If people are confident they can get Jacksons now over there, more
will be ordered and sold. The distros need to spread the word and this is a good way.
Try that, and let's give credit to FMIC for trying to promote Jacksons more than they have been in quite awhile.
And yes, I'm in too!

Re: New giveaway at JacksonGuitars.com
@ Llexi: I will keep that in mind. in the time to come I won't be able to do something like that (college student ), but that kind of things are the way to go I imagine!!
@lerxstcat: it is just an expression of irritation, because it is always the same story with guitars, hell, even the japanese import Jackson stuff like a RR5 are way more expensive over here than in the US (like € 150 or even more). the only good thing about europe are the ENGL amps, but unfortunately, I prefer MESA over all european brands, so I am screwed again (although I have what I wanted for an amp )

And, dont you have anything like "wire-transfer" in the us? I mean, everytime I have made deals with american people the either want me to send them checks (which I think belongs in the 20th century) or by using paypal. Isnt it possibly to just do a tranfser from my bank account to his/hers?

Re: New giveaway at JacksonGuitars.com
Just to clarify, shipping prizes to non-US residents really has nothing to do with shipping costs or duties. It's been mentioned that it has more to do with the laws of every individual country outside of the US, and that's the case.
All countries have their own laws regarding contests, and each one has its own set of guidelines, rules and restrictions. It would be literally impossible for us to conform to each country's expectations (Canada, for example, makes winners take a math test!), so we limit these giveaways to the US.
If we could let the world enter, we would in a heartbeat, and we'd pick up the shipping costs and duties ... if it were only that easy.

Re: New giveaway at JacksonGuitars.com
Note to non USA Americans: quit your whining about it. The USA is the best country in the world, not an opinion, a fact. If you want the benefits of an American, like easy access to our guitars, then seek citizenship and join us. (Actually, don't do that right now) I'm tired of hearing how "all you other guys" can't get in on the American action. Uh, did it occur to you that you're not HERE?! Take it as you want, I'm just saying that the USA has its privileges, and after the recent world conflicts many of you who want our guitars don't want our lifestyle, so go $%@# yourselves. Gotta get away from here.

Waitin' for the sun to appear..."
