• Speedloader Soloist...

If this has been mentioned already, sorry. It's featured at Floyd Rose's webpage under the news section. It says,"Jackson introduces Soloist featuring Speedloader."
The problem with that setup is having to play their strings until D'addario,Dean Markley, etc. start making some.

Speedloaders......I can't get into them. I like having tuners on my headstock. The string company's should have made strings for it when it first came out. Making you play on one kind of string is a shame. There should be no limits when it comes to guitars. but thats me

Why anyone would bother with the Speedloader crap is beyond me. I mean, what was Mr. Rose thinking? There's nothing wrong with his original system. So some people are stupid and can't set up a Floyd fast enough and need an easier way? The only thing you won't have to do now is clip ball ends off strings and wrap any winding around a machine head peg... big deal. It's still a floating trem and will need to be set up the way any other floating trem is set up.

I find it interesting. More brands will make strings for the guitars. There was a time when you only had once choice for double ball Stienberger strings as well, in time more companies offered them.

Yep. Just like with 7 string guitars. As soon as they realized how big of a craze it was, they all started making 7 string sets.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Not exactly. If a string breaks on a regular Floyd, you have to undo the nut and saddle screws, replace the string, stretch it out, tune it, stretch, tune, stretch, tune, then lock the nut down and fine-tune and then retune the whole guitar just to be sure.

On a Speedloader, you just pop the old string off and replace it. The strings are ground with more precision than standard string, the length is measured exact to the thousandth of an inch, and they're pre-stretched.

The whole idea is to have the benefits of the OFR (staying in tune) without the cons (it takes a freaking fortnight to change a string). The model I saw was a pre-release prototype so a few of the problems won't be problems by now. Once they get some kinks worked out they should work fine.

Eh, that makes some sense, but I still ain't buying it! I don't break strings anyway. Now, if someone buys me a guitar and it's on there, I won't turn it down.

Re: Speedloader Soloist...

I was unaware that the strings were pre-stretched....which is my only complaint about regular floyds.

But still I'm not paying insane prices for strings to have that luxury. I don't see this trend becoming popular anytime soon.

I think it's cool too. I'd like to try one before I started bashing it. Has anyone here tried one of the Speedloader Floyds yet?

I like being able to down tune and stuff. I don't think the speedloader will be able to do that anytime soon. I never break strings anymore, so that's an issue for me. Besides, that's what backup guitars are for.
