  • Jackson golden logotype printed in the headstock?

Hi. A guy is asking for help. He wants to buy an used Jackson guitar, it has a golden Jackson logotype printed on the headstock. I have never seen the letters printed in that color! It´s just like the 80´s Kramers. A fake?

looks like some one has just coloured in the headstock with a sharpie ..same with the logo on the pick ups..I'd walk away from that one unless it is really cheap!

Yeah, probably coloured by an owner.
It's rare to see a Japanese made JS series, especially with black hardware and a vintage style tremolo.
The serial indicates 2003. The JS30 Dinky was made in Japan in 2003, so possibly there were others? It looks similar to a JS20.

I found this link showing a 2 humbucker model with a very similar serial number. Possibly a limited edition or a model that wasn't released in North America?
      96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Typical Chinese fake. Dead giveaway is the headstock shape, overly long and wide top. If that's not enough, look at the trussrod cover and nut.

              Yep. Typical Chinese knockoff.
The logo position is too far to the right and the truss rod cover is not correct.
The 12th fret markers are also too wide for a MIJ Jackson.

Is it a "bad" guitar per say? Or just not a Jackson. JS series guitars are the low line. I can't imagine a Chinese fake being much worse. lol

Is it ok to remove original white shadowed logo from a genuine import Jackson´s headstock and paint a golden handwritten script logo instead? It is a Jackson after all.

I feel the same way. My question was more of a "bad" quality question. For that matter, why copy the low line guitar with something of equal or close quality. Is their market getting great prices from JS Jacksons?

I'd need better pics before calling it a fake.
The dots do seem wide. The headstock looks 'off', but those angled pics can be deceiving. A truss rod cover could easily be changed.

The headstock looks really weird, I don't think it's real either!
