Hey bratfink - I remember your first thread about the guitar getting smashed up in delivery.. That is a result keeping the guitar and getting the insurance check I have heard it is a real ball ache trying to get delivery companies to pay out. Do you have another guitar in mind to spend the money on?

Also on the note of hero worship - I recently read Alex Skolnicks book and he talks about the star struck moment he met his idol E Van Halen and was totally underwhlemed... I think i will stick to music worship, people worship is always setting you up for dissapointment!! ha ha

          Hey Drewbag.

I already spent it. The original deal was to swap the Deco with an 86 soloist that Hunter1970 had. When UPS smashed up the Deco on delivering it to him I bit the bullet and payed Hunter the value of the insurance for his guitar and took on the responsibility to getting UPS to pay up. That way he wasn't out of pocket and hadn't lost a guitar. I will be fixing this one, I just won't be able to do it with original parts since Fender won't allow anyone to buy them.

Ah I see, well i am glad you were able to sort it out with them and get the insurance money in the end! Good luck with the repairs on the Deco - im sure it will turn out fine.

Some years ago I sold a Cracked Mirror WRMG to DrakeS. that never arrived. UPS showed it was delivered, but he was home all day (took a day off work for the delivery). I refunded Chuk and called UPS to get my money back. After providing receipts for what I paid for the body, neck, pickups, trem, case, and other hardware, they paid out.

About 2 months later UPS rolls up with the guitar still in the box with "delivery refused" written on it. I contacted Chuk and he still wanted it.

I called UPS to refund their insurance payout, and they said they would send a truck to collect the guitar instead. I said "Uhh, no, you're not. I'll refund your money, I keep the guitar, because the guy I sold it to before is still interested in it. Get me an address to where I can send you a check."

It took weeks but they finally figured out how to get it done. They told me they didn't have a procedure in place to handle that and had to create one, because "nobody has ever done that - usually they keep the item and the money".
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
