The place where all the Jackson's used to be is now filled with used stuff, and Ibanez's.
I get facebook updates from the house of guitars, who use to be a huge Jackson dealer back in the day... now all you see is Fender and Gibson promotions.

I was checking out some of the new DK2s & import Soloists in a store recently. They look pretty damn solid. The store seemed to hold them in some regard - even had an 'ask before playing' tag on the tobacco Soloist.
      Hail yesterday

        96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

And precious few of them at that. Last time I was there, it was mainly Squiers and Epis!
At least they still had a nice selection of amps...

The American Standard Strat can be made to sell at $1100 new, right? (it's been years since I've bought an Am Std Strat) I think a good move would be to build a quality US Made Jackson version, a little stripped down from the USA Selects (i.e., no shark fins, just piranha teeth), alder bodies and ebony or maple fretboards. I think FMIC doesn't see a substantial sales appeal for that investment to be honest, though that's the missing market segment. I'm guessing not lot of people aren't going to pay almost a grand for a made in Indonesia guitars--I will not. FMIC killed a great, reasonably-priced guitar in Tacoma. Where are their artist models to be found? I've been looking for a USA Corey Belileau KV7 for several weeks now.

Reverb is the place you can find the artist models.
