  • Been a while!

I used to be a regular member here but haven't been around for years... when the hell did they start making the Pro series in Mexico? Do they not make any Jacksons in Japan anymore at all? Has the world gone mad?

The Japanese factory went bankrupt and shut it doors in late 2011. Pro models have been made in Mexico (bolt ons) and Indonesia (neck thrus) since 2012.

Really eh? I didn't know that was the reason..
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Well, I've read bankruptcy in various places. I think Xenophobe? recently gave a detailed explanation on facebook.

Chushin Gakki had an exclusive contract with Fender... though near the end it was suspected or hinted that they were producing a small run of guitars either for themselves or someone else due to losing money on the contract for the last couple of years before they closed shop.

One day they were at full capacity, then the next after the contract expired, the shop was dead. The speculaltion was Fender did not renew the contract because the exchange rate left little room for profit, or didn't offer them enough profit to satisfy them... It sounded like Chushin Gakki was expecting a renewed renegotiated contract and never received it.

So the old man who ran the shop basically had to shut down and file bankruptcy and is for the most part broke.... or at least was.

A Japanese member of this forum actually confirmed all of this by talking to the guy in person. It's on the forums here somewhere.

So yeah, Fender basically tanked Chushin Gakki on purpose.

This is why that era charvels and jacksons are starting to go way up in value. partly due to the closure but also due to the fact people found out that they are really fucking good.

I just picked up another 475 Deluxe (Special) in red for 200.00 to go with the blue one I got a few months ago for 115.00. I love the Pawnshops in Reno.
