It is the reality of the last 20 years or so, large companies force smaller ones to lower their profits almost down to zero or even below. I really hate that, skilled people who are good at their jobs and can run a decent company have so much difficulty to survive.
BTW good to see you back bro!

In the process costing accounting method it comes to the term "race to the bottom." meaning: that companies are looking to find the cheapest it can be done for and those who produce are constantly under cutting one another for the bid on the job. there hasn't been a permanent basement price per hour/unit yet but I'm sure that they are getting close. take into account that there are only so many countries and among those there are only so many with low labor costs; now taking that figure subtract those that are unwilling or have bad relations with the companies origin country. so you see USA based companies have been to pretty much everywhere where it is cheap, China is becoming more expensive and less and less will be sent there to be made, hence India becoming part of the production.
If you hate companies doing this then you your vote or in this case your $$$. don't buy those products.

a lot of the original japaneese 1986 - 1993 charvel fortworth tx team were also the 1990 - 1995 jackson pro team. after the contract ended/went south a group left among them Itaru Kano and he started Caparison Guitars (which are really good).
those skilled guys sometimes do end up breaking out. check out their stuff.
a name on a headstock is just that and nothing more. if you love the craftsmanship follow the craftsman. hence Fender paying huge money to have Mike Shannon come back to work.
