Hah I go to post in classifieds, my last subscription must have just expired!

Obviously not my guitar..... They appear new (or at least have nothing to indicate they're used in the ad).

I snagged one like-new used off Reverb. Previous owner had put in Blackouts (white ones- wtf!) and was selling it cheap 'cuz no one would touch it. Surprisingly, the Blackouts didn't sound too bad. Would've preferred the JB and '59. I let it go because the neck felt REALLY chunky. Not my recollection of what a San Dimas felt like. With a more authentic SD profile neck, a proper set of PUs and a real-deal Orig. Floyd, that thing would've been awesome!

Wait, those are USA made Charvels? I didn't think they were. The original USA models from a few years ago were only a touch above that, I want to say $725 shipped.

I don't think so. I think this is part of the Pro Mod series that was MIJ for a while then moved to Mexico when Fender closed down the Japan factory.

The ones you were thinking of were called the San Dimas/So Cal USA production series. I think they may have only made them for a year or two before transitioning to the Japanese Pro Mods. I want to say street price was around $1200 for the USA line.

Not USA those floyds at music zoo are recessed. The USA models were non-recessed.

the first runs(s) of MIJ were also topmounted

And I thought the MIM were different from the MIJ by having the trussrod wheel at the heel (dunno if the first runs had this already) if so, I suspect that TMZ is a (NOS?) MIJ

Looks like a pretty good deal
Checking a close up of the fret ends, it doesn't look like any NOS MIJ to me, the tangs aren't cut back; they look more like the MIM ends to me. In any case, the price looks great with the free shipping included.
If I didn't have a San Dimas already, I would give one a try.

They're last year's MIM pro mods. And not a FR special, MZ probably just copied that from the Charvel website which had the spec wrong. It's the MIK 1000 series.

Very good price and, with a quartersawn neck, arguably a better quality guitar than the new 2016 pro mods. Those now have flatsawn necks, albeit with stiffining rods.

I still don't think it's a good price, when I bought my first year USA Charvel SD run I swear it was only $725-$750 shipped with a gig bag...

Made in Mexico junk, end of story. You can buy a much better, much nicer Japanese version with a case for less.
