Electronics route and cover are wrong. I don't recall them ever making an HT version either.
More likely early MIJ Pro Mod body. That's when all the H/S HT started showing up.
    So, something like this?

    or this (sans trem route):

The extraneous (5th) hole in the back of the body at the neck plate lines up, the extraneous (smaller) holes in the middle of the neck pocket line up and the date stamp appears to be in the same location and font.

Yep... exactly like the first one you posted.
Color is even the same, which is what would make me question the "at least 5 years" comment.

      2012 MIJ body.

I prefer not to say, except that it was a brand new guitar that I didn't really need. Given that the guitar I received in return isn't a Charvel USA guitar, he got the better end of the deal. However, I'm confident he wasn't trying to deceive me based my interactions with him-- he didn't shy away from any questions after the fact and was extremely responsive, offered and gave me a reasonable and fair amount of cash to replace the nut (I noted an issue with the nut after I got home and he offered to pay to have it replaced without me asking), offered to provide electrician services for my new home (in a couple weeks) free of charge (I declined as I don't want him to have to drive so far away and back for simple issues that I could have done locally), offered to swap back (was local deal, though he lives a couple hours away), etc. He definitely spent quite a lot of money on parts and having a luthier refinish and perform the upgrades/mods. In any case, he's happy with the guitar I traded to him as it's exactly what he was looking for, and I take some joy out of that, though this doesn't have any actual monetary value.

If I parted out this guitar at the lowest price I could reasonably get (which I have no intention of doing-- I've never parted out a guitar and prefer to trade/sell whole), I'd be out a couple hundred dollars. The purpose of this identification exercise is that I want to make sure exactly what I have so that if I trade or sell the guitar, the next person knows as much information as possible.

My "at least 5 years" comment is based on hearsay on what the previous seller told him when he bought it ("around 5 years old"). Of course, the quality of people's relative memory timeline decreases as time passes, so "around 5 years old", could actually mean 3-4 years old in reality. I know I've made the same mistake, so it's feasible.

We've all been bitten by bad deals.
Sucks you got burned on this one.
If the guitar plays great, keep it as a reminder to verify everything first.

No worries. I actually like this guitar better than my (real) 2016 Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod HH HT-- it's lighter, better-looking, plays and sounds better. Surprisingly, these two are the first Charvels (or part-Charvel in the case of the newest guitar) I've ever owned (or even played) and I've owned about 50-100 guitars over the years.

Thanks for your and everyone else's help!
