They're selling for that much? A motivated buyer will fork out the cash, no doubt.
I'd say $500/fair, $800/excellent condition...perhaps more if it looks un-played.96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

If valuation posts are a problem, it's because people post NGD or NAD posts without sharing their purchase price. If you get a good deal, would you not want to share the awesome price you paid for your new toy? Helps with market value information and newbies trying to do searches seeking values. The hole in my theory is that when I finally go to sell stuff, I tend to get less than it's worth.
