$1K to $1.5K USD here. I'm not sure over there, but usually more $ in the EU or GB.

Interesting. If a high end import commands USD$1k to USD$1.5k in the USA these days, I should probably not hesitate to buy every USA Jackson/Charvel I discover under CAD$1k.

They're selling for that much? A motivated buyer will fork out the cash, no doubt.

        I'd say $500/fair, $800/excellent condition...perhaps more if it looks un-played.
        96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

They go for a lot if you're patient to the right buyer. $1500 might be a bit aspirational but not completely insane.

Trans top 750xl's can easily break $1k, but only if they're in minty condition.

I'm amazed as some of the prices being quoted, I thought the Japanese Model series were the ones to go for from that era? And they're only selling for 350ukp or there abouts in the UK.

Or am I out of touch? Maybe time to sell the '87 Model 4.

No, the only model series that ever hits >$1k are trans 750xl's, gold or silver sparkle 650xls, a few other odd or especially rare pieces. Model 4 isn't gonna get $1k.

If valuation posts are a problem, it's because people post NGD or NAD posts without sharing their purchase price. If you get a good deal, would you not want to share the awesome price you paid for your new toy? Helps with market value information and newbies trying to do searches seeking values. I'm a long time member and still struggle finding value information lately, hence my rash of "yay or nay" topics recently.

On the 80's stuff, I only get a great price maybe 20% of the time. To get something rare that you really want, it seems like you have to pay more than it's worth to get it. So who wants to disclose that??

The hole in my theory is that when I finally go to sell stuff, I tend to get less than it's worth.

eBay used to be a great resource for appraising guitars, but not so much anymore.

I don't think the XL's came out in the states till 90', I do not know about in Scotland. so if it is an 88' it may be rare!?
