I just bought a used Dinky Pro DK2QM with the chlorine burst finish and maple neck. The maple fretboard is a bit dirty and needs cleaned. Is this neck an unfinished neck? I'm not sure how to clean it. Any tips?
0000 grade steel wool will simultaneously clean a maple fretboard and neck at the cost of "de-glossing"any glossy finish present. However the result is very satin-like and feels great. The polyurethane finish is still present to protect the maple, just de-glossed for a less sticky feel. If you want to return the finish on the maple to its original lustre, simply buff it, or your hands will naturally re-gloss it over time when playing.
