  • Newbie with a DK3

Hi everyone, new to this forum. I've just started playing again after 3 years of being very ill and one thing I've noticed after looking nobody owns a DK3 here. Still have mine after nearlly 16 years. I know many were never made for whatever reason as I have heard so many different ones I guess I may never know the truth. Anyway greetings from Wales (uk).

    Welcome!
DK3 wasn't made for very long, so not many out there.
They pop up from time to time and confuse the hell out of people in the process.

There were owners here, maybe still, links to pics are probably out of dated.

Welcome to the forum. I can only remember one or two people here who had the DK3. Only made for the year 2000, I think. Page 10 of the catalog.

That's some dark-ass rosewood. Did you stain/dye it?

A good example of the satin chrome hardware that offered on some models of that late-'90s-early-2000s era.
            96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Man, what a bitchin' guitar. HSH is pretty common on Ibanez guitars but you don't see many Jacksons with HSH.

And yes, if your did stain/darken the rosewood fretboard, we'd love to know your methods! I tried one time using vinegar and steel wool, and it was unsuccessful.

I think there might have even been some DK3s that didn't have binding, as well.

Didnt do anything to the fretboard, think its just a dark picture, i`ll unearth it and take a better pic in the next day or so, pretty sure the rosewood is usual colour tho.

The HSH is the reason i dislike this guitar tbh

Glad to know I'm not the only one left!. I may need some assistance in setting mine up again ie string clearance from poles of pups etc as seemed to have lost a lot of sustain since the last time I played . Just re stringed it with 0.011 top E so any advice would be greatly welcome. Very slight truss rod adjustment was all that was required moving from 0.009 top E.
                    Thanks in advance.
