  • Jackson DKMG?

    Hi all,

I bought a Jackson a long time ago and I'm not sure what model it is. After doing some research, it appears to be a DKMG, but I figured I would post here to double check and find out some more information on it.

The color is dark green with tiny little green specks in it (almost like glitter). The color looks black from afar, but once up close or in the right light it's a beautiful green.

    - It has three knobs and a selector switch. The last knob can be pulled "up" to activate the pickups.

    - Piranha inlays

    - The serial number on the back is 7 digits long and the first two numbers are "99"
    - From what I've read, the "99" could be the year it was made
    - Also, I've read that the first "9" could mean that it was made in Japan

    - The bridge says "Jackson" on one side and on the center says "Licensed Under Floyd RosePats."

    - Both pick ups are solid black and say "EMG-HZ"

This is about all the information I have so far. Like I said, It looks like it's probably a DKMG Dinky, but what throws me off is I cannot find this type of serial number online. I'd like to know where it was made, what the body is made of (I think Alder), what the neck is made of etc...

    I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

*I can post pics if anybody is interested.

If it's like this one, then it's a DKMG... However, 3 knobs and HZ's means it's an older model than mine.

Yes, a 2002ish-2005 DKMG, made in Japan. The knob is for a TurboCharger boost feature and the finish is Black Forest.

They were first offered in either 2001 or 2002, so the serial on that should be 96xxxxx for 2001-2 or 97xxxxx for '03-'05. A 7 digit 99 serial would almost certainly be a misprint. I've seen misprints on here and elsewhere.

They dropped the boost and added EMG 81/85's from 2006-'11.
      Here's my 2011.

      96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

9740xxx should be '04-'05. 9742xxx was date stamped April 2005.
The neck pocket contains date stamps if you want to remove the neck and check.
