What does the 'Facebook Connect' button do?

Well, in my browsers it does zilch. And in IE it doesn't even appear. So, does anybody know what it is supposed to do? :P

You're supposed to be able to login to your JCF account with your facebook account as well as "like" and "share" from here and it show up on your FB page and to the JCF FB page... but it doesn't work
