A buddy recently bought a 7-string import Soloist with the Jackson "Smurf Hat Headstock" similar to the one below. Unfortunately it doesn't fit in generic hardshell cases because the interior of generic cases measure 40 inches in length and the Smurf headstock is at least an inch or two longer.
I'm sure the 8-string Smurf Soloists (like the one seen below) faces the same problem of being too long for 40in generic cases:
He's currently using a generic case meant for long/wide shapes like the Rhoads, but that's excessively roomy.
Any "intermediate" sized cases?
