KV2 had tone. Yes on JT580 and not the LP. I have seen a LP in one and it fit but was not right dimension for route.

The body is a legit Jackson body. That is an angled JT-580LP route.
The paint job however looks like a rattle can job... right down to the furry bits trapped in the paint.

Nobody - and I mean nobody - who does a rattlecan job bothers to cover the ground tabs and shielding paint in the pickup cavity.

However, the amount of overspray in the neck pocket does indicate a refin. Maybe it was intended to be someone's homage to Mustaine's Mercedes Silver KV?

Is there paint inside the body holes, like where the knobs go?

Everything about this guitar body screams KV3 to me.
From the JT-580LP route to the strap button location on the back.

Here is a KV3 for reference.

Great amount of information i will use extra light to take picture inside the holes.
If possible i will use cotton and water on the neck pocket to see if these white marks go away.
Also i remember once when i had to check value for a car, an insurance guy came to inspect the vehicule, he uses a tool to check paint quality. This device was able to check if some parts of the car were refinished or not and what was the thickness of it.
That would make sense to use one of those tool on the body?

Ah, you're right. The KV Standard didn't have the tone control.

Well Wally the good news is you are now cleared to go ahead and start butchering the guitar.

                      Oh la la :/
I will cautiously examine it in a few days, add new photos and give the exact measurement. KV2 or KV3 !

Imagine that it's going to be a lot of fun to....try to reverse it because I am a lefty
By the way do you think this could be ok on it (as long as I'll give measure )

If links to ebay aren't allowed hmm I apologize

That's the same model tremolo, so it should be fine as far as I know.
                        96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

That trem route is going to need some serious dremeling.

Shouldn't be noticeable, just extending the oval through cut the entire length of the rout.

Back at home ! First thing I did what ...opening the box because the parcel arrived... and what a disappointed.
A horn is broken. I guess it happened during transportation even if it was really well packed.
The whole body looked fine on pictures now I am a bit disappointed.
The horn damaged is not clearly shown with a 'zoom' pictures before but on a general picture it realy looked OK.
There is clearly an impact or a shock trace on it, with paints missing for about 1 centimeter large on 0,2mm height

                              Pictures talk by themself...

Other pictures on neck pocket, tremolo and pickups routings and whole body :

*zen* I guess I will have to fill in a request or complain form to Ebay and see what's going on.
In any case I have way more work to do that what was planed initially.

I will take that a very bad joke for 1st of April. Bloody fish --'

To avoid mistakes for measurement, can you tell me based on this picture which "lane" I should follow for exact measures ?

Another thing ... I am still motivated

                                That's a shame, good luck.

Could that stamp say KVP meaning KV Platinum? I've never seen the platinum finish up close myself, so I'm still guessing.
