  • New to forum and to shred guitars!

After 10 years of playing guitar and now being a tech, I am into shredder guitars! I found this one for sale... seems like a good deal with active (?) emg's, floyd rose and hard case, but I dont even know what model this is! Let alone specs and year etc etc. The serial number is- 9784752 Can someone help me with some info about this one? These things are difficult to identify!!!! I

Thanks so much from the new guy!

Welcome. That's a Japanese 2006 DKMG. They had passive EMGhz's and 3 knobs/boost feature from '02-'05. From '06-'11 they got active EMG 81/85's with 2 knobs/no boost. The serials ran in sequence and hit 9800000 circa '07. The neck pocket has date/model stamps if you're curious.

I've got a 2011 DKMGT with a TOM bridge/string thru body and it's as fine a guitar as my USA Soloist.
    96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Thanks so much for the info!!! Do you think $200 with a hard case (nothin special hard case) is a good deal?

Welcome to the forum. $200 with case is a great deal for that.

Welcome! Buy that DKMG! My general rule of thumb is that USD$300 is the "fair price ballpark" for a bolt-on Japanese Jackson/Charvel, so anything below that is worth pursuing.

$200 is a steal. A trans red DKMG in 2006 had a $1000 MSRP with a street price in the $700+ ballpark.

I paid $849+ tax (MSRP $1200ish) for my 2011 with a hard Jackson case in 2011.
