  • Does Jackson Custom Shop make Gibson body guitars now?

I think I've seen some Jackson Explorers and Firebirds, recent year ones not early 2000s, out there.

Not to mention that Monarkh looks like Les Pauls.

So, I was wondering if they are starting to make the Gibson Body shapes again in the Jackson Custom Shop.

They make the Marty Friedman Monarkh, it's a single cut guitar that resembles the LP but with beveled edges.

Jackson is owned by Fender and the Jackson Custom Shop is in the Fender building at Corona. They do not make Gibsons, but have done Gibson body shapes in the past, like the Explorer or the Pat Lachman SG styled guitar, as well as a few others I'm sure.

Although they have done a few FBs and Vs for NAMM show special one-offs, as a general rule the simple answer is no. They will not take custom shop orders for Gibson-ish body styles. They may do a CS Monarkh, as they consider that their own unique (and TM-able) body style. But otherwise, nope, not gonna happen.

You may not get to order a FB, but the CS likes to spit them out for NAMM on occasion and those are usually sold by whatever dealer acquires them. So, just keey your eyes peeled on reverb and ebay and wherever else.

Yeah. This is exactly why I was wondering if Jackson Custom Shop is now 'Okay' or able to make Gibson body shaped guitars.

I would like to have the recent ones, but I just don't dig double humbuckers. If it's single hum firebird, I'm definitely getting it. I just gatta hope someone in the forum would sell one in the future.

To get your hands on a Jackson Firebird expect to pay 3-4 K...
Same for an Explorer, round horn V, etc.
