• LSR Tuners - what am I doing wrong?

I'm having my first experience with LSR's, and I'm trying to restring them. However, the strings keep slipping and will not tune up. They get a little tight when I crank the tuners, but then the strings slip and will not go to pitch. WTF am I doing wrong?

I'm about to throw this pile of korina in the fire!!!

I've never used them myself, but I've read about them. This should help you... string installation is on page 4 and 5.

I've never really worked with LSR's, but once you get them working let me know how you like them. I am thinking about putting a set on the guitar I am building. And a set of custom pickup bezels too!!

I had them on my King V... I hated them and replaced them with Sperzels, but here's what I remember...

Make sure to pull the string through as far as possible because they don' tlike having the windings all the way around them. Once they get locked down they should only take a half turn or so to get into tune, as to why they're slipping on you... I can't say. I did have 2 of the 6 break on me, so I sent them back to Jackson and asked them to send me sperzels.

I have them on my KV-1 and they are awesome. I can restring in less than 10 minutes. But, it took me a couple of string changes to get it down. Keep at it Brett, you'll get it. You need to tighten the string in the tuner, then push up and tighten again to get tension on the string.

Thanks everyone - I got it. That link explained everything, and at this point I'm pretty impressed with these tuners. I'm VERY impressed with the guitar they're on.

I'm printing those out for when I get the Roswell - I know I'll need them and will have to post for help long after this post it buried

Re: LSR Tuners - what am I doing wrong?

By and large, guitarists are a traditional bunch. New ideas in guitar construction and gadgetry are generally scoffed at. Why was Gibson's Explorer and Flying V a sales failure in the early days? Too futuristic, too non-traditional. Look at those who still scoff at our beloved C/J's as they were a change from the norm. Look at the reaction to Steinberger and Parker's new guitar designs. Look at the fact that MIDI was once only used by keyboard players. The Floyd Rose. Guitar synths, modeling amps, speed loaders, and LSR's are but one of many new concepts. It takes time. For me, give me a 2X4 with strings on it and I'm happy.
