  • JE-1200 Mid Boost Eats 9volts

    Hey Guys,

My Model 5 is great and I love it, but I swear the damn thing just eats 9volts. I have read and seen that these are not active pickups, but I get no sound unless I change the battery and that only lasts a little bit before changing it again. Any suggestions?

How does it turn on? Is it a push pull pot or is it activated by the input jack. Maybe the input jack is stuck on?

I do not leave the cord plugged in. I'll put it in its case and like a week without playing it and the 9volt is dead.

I am not sure, but I do not believe it is a push/pull. From my understanding the mid boost is just activiated by the bottom knob.

It seems as though its not shutting off. I would suspect the input jack as the culprit or a crossed wire. Do you have a multi meter to check for voltages in the control cavity or at the input jack?

Check to make sure the guitar has a stereo jack. If it was replaced with a mono jack the electronics will stay on even after you unplug.

So that's why after replacing my jack the battery does not last nearly as long as it use to. Guess i will be replacing it again

I have a Jackson Soloist and two Charvels with the JE-1200, and change the batteries less than once per year. So something is up.....
