  • jackson serial no information

Hello everybody, new in the forum and new in the jackson's world.

I'm going to buy my first floyd rose tremolo guitar and I have the opportunity to get a Jackson DK2 but I can´t get some information about this guitar. Can you please help me about it. I only know the serial number: 9844432 and according to the seller it was made in Japan.

    I'll Really apreciate it.

    Regards.

The DK2 was made in Japan.
That is a Japan serial number.
But serials aren't specific to models.

That Japanese serial format is confusing because there were two different formats using those numbers.
        1)Date coded 98='98
        2) Sequential 98= Usually 2007-2011
In these cases where the model in question could be either a '90s model or late 2000's model, the specs are the easiest way to determine the year/era.

If it has chrome hardware it'd be a mis-stamped 2005ish model (a number of mid-2000 models oddly got a 98xxxxx serial instead of 97xxxxx even though 9800000 generally started circa 2007 using the sequential format)...

...or, less likely, a 1998 DK2 using the date coded format. '98 was the first year for DK2's and they had chrome hardware/Duncan Designed pickups same as the 2005. Black hardware/Seymour Duncans began in 2006.

A 9844xxx serial with black hardware would suggest a 2009 model. 9843xxx was stamped Sept. 2009 in the neck pocket and 9846xxx was stamped Dec. 2009.
Those serials can be inconsistent, too.

A pic would be most helpful in determining exactly what it is. There are a lot of mutts and mongrels out there that have been altered, such as a neck/neck plate/serial swap.
        96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Black hardware and Seymour Duncan pickups means it is newer than 2007.

It is a DK2, Made in Japan.

What else do you need to know?

I'd like to know about the quality: pick ups, materials, specially the tremolo (keep tunning?). Basically if it worth, the seller sells it for 300 €. It would be my second guitar, I own a japan Tokai lc 195 and I'm looking for my first guitar with floyd rose type tremolo.

              Thanks for your help.

Good quality guitars. Nothing special, looks like a JT580 lo-pro trem - decent quality, but not Schaller or Floyd Rose quality. 300 Euros looks like about $350 USD, so it's a fair price, but not a steal. At least in the US.

That'd be an '09 model. Alder body. A pro series guitar that sold for around $800USD with case. $350USD with case would be a great deal considering it looks clean.
