  • Looking for a post about a particular CS piece...

I tried searching for over an hour and never found it,but I'm looking for a post about someone's CS order.

This was a blacked out Strathead Dinky with abalone outlined sharkfins, and a painted neck. Thanks,Tommy.

Sounds a lot like mine, except neck thru and not painted.

BTW, it is a proper spec'd 22 fret 80's Dinky body profile and handles like it, it really doesn't handle like a Soloist... holding it I get all my harmonics exactly like I would with my other dinky strathead because of the body/neck/trem placement. It's really the most perfect guitar for me I've ever owned... I can't pick anything that I like the best. I can only nitpick about really minor things. Like... I kinda wish I had got it with abalone dots right now. But then maybe next week I will wish I kept it as I originally ordered it with a blank ebony board. Then I'll want my outlined sharkfins back. That was my last 'adjustment' about 6 months after I already confirmed my work order. I'm happy with them.

Maybe I might have ordered locking Schaller tuners and an LSR nut like my Fender Deluxe if I realized I liked it when I placed the order, because I really dig that setup, but that's another non-issue.

I guess I really like the jack placement, right under the rear strap button, pointing upwards. It's somewhere between a standard and speed neck. I guess it's shaped more like a slightly thicker Dinky neck. Maybe I'd like .5mm shaved, but not a whole lot. The shelf on the headstock face and volute are really deep. More than typical Fenders or CJs.

If I ask for a SL2H Soloist with that type of neck construction, would it be only custom select or master built?

This is full on masterbuild. I'm not even sure if you can get 3 piece necks with Custom Select. I'm not sure, you could always ask a dealer.

Custom select neck type for soloist is Neck thru, scarf joint only. Quarter sawn maple or mahogany.

Always dug this one! I remember the trouble you went through with the logo. One of my all time favorites.
