  • Need help identifying a snakeskin jackson.

I received this guitar as a gift from someone a few years ago (no longer in touch with that person) and I have no idea what it is. The serial number is U20107, which has brought me no info searching other sites and forums. (I've only been able to find listing for UO**** numbers)

From looking at photos, it appears it might be a DK1? I know very little about Jacksons though, so subtleties could be easily overlooked.
2 humbuckers, 2 knobs (1 volume, 1 tone), les paul type toggle switch, floyd rose, neck binding. Headstock says MADE IN U.S.A.
Not sure if they were stock, but the guitar came with Seymour Duncan humbuckers. A 59' Neck, and a JB Trembucker (both were replaced before it was gifted to me)

Any help figuring out what model and what year this is from would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome! That's a hell of a gift! That's an SL2H Soloist. Neckthru construction, with controls closer to the pickups, and a serial number stamped on the last fret. A DK1 Dinky has a bolt-on neck, with controls further away from the pickups, and a serial number on the neck plate on the back. Otherwise, from the front, their outline/silhouette is identical.

    Color is "copper snakeskin".

You are right, Seymour Duncans are stock for an SL2H, ever since the SL2H's debut in the year 2000, and the guitar's specs have remained unchanged since then.

Wow, thank you! That is incredibly helpful information. If only now I can figure out what year it is. Judging by other posts i've seen dating other U2xxxx serials it's gonna be in the '06-'08 range.

        Sweet.
The serial would be late '07. My U203xx is early '08.
        U202xx was Dec '07.
        96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

Nice soloist. And I agree with Mudlark, based on my log your Jackson likely has a completion date around December 2007.
