Unfortunately I can only comment on the strap buttons. They look like Schaller Security Locks: https://www.google.com/search?newwin....0.jAk34_akPSw

Looking at some KV1 ads on Reverb (https://www.google.com/search?newwin....0.Imn6B25IKwE) I notice some guitars have the same strap buttons but some guitars have a "recessed" version. I imagine someone else can offer more insight into this arrangement than I can.

This one is 97. Serial number U0 48 91. Damn the Kahler and LSR tuners have been well used. Is there any way I could make them blacker?

          Clean and oil them?

if it's dirty, no problem, but they seems more corroded to me...
the tuner of the high e has a crack or it's the string?
how can anyone mess up a guitar like this... and a shop put it on sale in this condition?

In some cases shops are worse than individual sellers. They are just in it for the quick flip. Lesss they have to do to get the sale the better. They just tell you what you want to hear and thats it. However not all shops are like this but most i have encountered are. Especially if you only deal with them online and dont go there in person.

My first offer was 1200 euros but they said a straight up no -_- I'll email them again, point out the nut and bridge problem, and hope they lower the price to 1300 Euros from 1500... I am dealing online and can't go in person cuz the shop is in Italy, and I am in either Russia or India.

One part of my brain says, just buy it, if there's something wrong, fix it, make it your own. The other part says, let it go, wait for a better KV1 to pop up and buy that one...

By the way, I was wondering, where is Jani, the guy who made the Jackson Guitar Palace Dave Mustaine website?

Not knowing much about the import and duty issues you may be confronting, I think it might make sense to throw up a “wtb mustaine V $1800” and see if someone here bites. At EUR 1500 that’s about what it would be in $$$. I’m betting you find one in much better shape.

The nut is not damaged. It is very normal for usa jackson. All my kv1 and y2kv are somehow like that.

Fuck I'm glad I got my KV1 when I did. Still wish I got a Korina version though. Mine is a '98 and has the recessed Dunlops that I love.

The KVpros are even getting $1500-$1800. The corrosion on screws is a cheap fix, and the last 3 KV1’s I purchased had the same broken string hook on the bridge. Very easy and cheap fix.

                        Good luck and and congrats
Two of my string hooks are broken. Is there a resource that tells you how to disassemble the bridge and replace them?

Just take the bridge off and turn it over. There is a plate on the bottom held on with a couple of screws. Remove that carefully. Once it’s off you’ll see the broken hooks. Just look at the ones that are still functioning correctly for the right way to install the new ones. Very easy fix. Once you have the new ones in, be careful to put the back plate on and get everything seated the right way. Then just put it back on. You may or may not have a thin gasket between the guitar body and the bridge. They came with one but many times people remove them. Either way good luck and congrats.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot when I get a few spare minutes. It’s not raining this weekend (yet) so yardwork calls.
