Amen, Joe. I mean, that's DCGL, isn't it? Deneb, are you familiar with the Dross syndrome?

Yeah, Dross is burnt metal run off, and it seems like you want to call me that.

Fine by me. Jimmy, I am not afraid of roaches. Can you think of something new to say?

Yeah, it is DCGL, I have dealt with them, I think you did not read a word I typed.

*it is partially the camera, but the flame just sucks on those*.

What part of that do you not understand? It is that simple, argue it all you like, you can look right at them and see the grain is not matched up, and the camera, good as one can be, will not fix it.

Deal with it, there are some crap looking Jacksons out there.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">well, sure. But the pic of Stephan's Warmoth doesn't look like it matches up, although he assures us that it looks great in person, The Eristic's pic of a McInturff, and even on your own EBMM, the flame & colour doesn't match perfectly on any of them. In your EBMM pics, the left side looks darker than the right, and although the flame matches between the pickups, it doesn't behind the trem. Not in the pics, anyway.

                Re: Awful flame tops.

Vitamin, I am actually glad you read what I said, and pointed out what you did.

The camera CAN make things looks better/ worse.

However, please look at the grain below the trem again, notice how its dark on the one side, and then on the *grain* that should match on the otherside, it is lighter, kind of like a contrast?

I am not trying to bash peoples personal collections or anything, but there were 2 poor examples of flame topped guitars.

If I saw them I would not buy them. The ones we see that do not look good, and the owners assure us they are sweet, well we can believe it, and that is because they are not selling it.

If I called up DCGL, and was like, Jason, I want this SL2h In trans black, will it be better for me than what I have, I bet he woul dhave a reason it would be, and another why the flame is so hot.

If I buy a pair of Nike Air Jordans, the guy at foot locker will tell me I jump higher.

                It is really about credibility.

My EB looks sweet to me, and some others, but the reason I really wanted to point it out was about the thickness of flame commment, that was earlier in the thread.

I am guessing what I am trying to say is it seemed like it was said that it was the camera, not the guitar, not the sellers inability to take pictures, or great ability to take inferior pictures. Or rather just the picture quality.

I have given more than my 2 cents, so I will shut up now. Apologies to anyone upset, wounded, injured, or not wanting to buy a flame now.

"I wonder if the angle of the sunlight is having an effect on the finish of the those guitars."

IMHO it is not anything to do with the light. What I am seeing is really bad bookmatching of the flame tops. A well done flame top bookmatch, shows the EXACT reverse image of one side of the flame top, to the other. The pics tho close, look to me like they didn`t use a proper match. Check out the wood grain on both sides of the guitar body, they don`t match, plain and simple.

Visualswise these would be IMHO called factory seconds. A really well done flame top would fetch more dough even if the playability was close to exact on 2 differing guitars.

"In the very last pic it looks like the top is mis-matched. I still don't think the first two guitars are ass ugly. They are two seperate veneers of maple reacting differently to the light at the angle the pic was taken at."

mismatched. Good reply from this dude. With good build quality and close matching, the builder can get away without an exact bookmatch. But a really awesome bookmatch is preferable.

Come on guys. Nobody can tell for sure if this is light or not looking at pics of guitars unseen in person, and over the Internet to boot.

I've seen plenty of funky Jackson USA flame tops. What looks funky to some could be awesome to others. Those two are not funky IMO. I wouldn't buy them though. Then again I wouldn't buy any flame top.

My Hamer and Carvin with perfectly matched flame tops sometimes look off in different light or at different angles. If anyone's so upset about the pics on DCGL's site, email or call them and ask about what it looks like and if you can get better pics.

Damn! I can't believe it. On the third page and no one has mentioned the most hideous Flametop. I look crappy in any light, with any camera, and my scrotum is far from book matched......
