Well, they DO get orders in that 10 to 25 unit range for limited editions, like the Road Hazard Rhoads - 24-fret, 1-hum, yellow with black bevels. I think those all sold pretty fast, and at around $1500
were in USA Select territory, basically.

Problem is, Matt is not likely to get 10 people to agree by committee and order with deposits collected in advance. He will probably have to take the feedback and decide specs himself, then say "Here's the limited edition I'm having made; who wants one?". If it's CLOSE to 10 people's dream, though it may not be exactly anyone's dream, it will still sell, and the buyers get something more unique than a Select for about the same $ give or take a few hundred. I would say a shortscale SL2H in black cherry, with black hardware and OFR, would sell to 10 people in a short time. It's close enough to what many people asked for in this and other threads to sell pretty fast, I think.

I don't mind doing something like this at all. There was a similar thread when I first joined the forum a couple months ago, but everyone wanted something completely differant and the topic died. We were talking about a Soloist, but it was going to have to be built in the Custom Shop and I think the price was higher than most wanted to spend.

If the design is based on a USA Select guitar and if a bunch of people can agree on basic specs, then I'd be willing to set up a poll to see where it goes.

As a dealer, my main concern is ordering 10 guitars and having to sit on a bunch of them. I have to pay for them regardless if they sell or not. I'd be willing to set special pricing for you guys, but I'd want to feel fairly confident that the entire batch of guitars would be sold quickly.

Some folks aren't exactly reliable.
Some will be unemployed, have a car blow up, dog die, etc...etc.. when the guitars start to show.
OSG ltd editions always did well.
They sold because they appealed to a ****load of people.
Not just 10 guys on the JCF.
Just my 2 cents.

It's a shame those threads degenerated into slugfests, as I had a coupla things I wanted to add.

First, I believe the question regarding a 24 fret Rhoads and/or RR5 was supposed to be "will there be PRODUCTION MODEL 24 fret RRs" - I mean, everyone here pretty much knows that you can go through a dealer and get a limited run of them (as with the RHRR), but 90% of the folks here will gladly take it as an import (Japanese-made) for a coupla grand less than the limited run will be, and not everyone here wants limited run "investments".

Second - Replacement parts such as necks are available. Yeah, on Ebay [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
So where's the Official Jackson Replacement Parts Catalog? Can I order a 24 fret maple/maple neck with ebony reverse sharkfins from it? Can I get a couple of JTX model necks with maple and rosewood boards? I think Trish may have been thinking about some other guitar company that has Officially Licensed Parts available through Warmoth. Warmoth's parts may fit on a Jackson, but try putting their 24 fret extenda-board necks on anything - it's useless for a Jackson [img]graemlins/brow.gif[/img]

And as for the comments about USA Selects with options/variations (like every other USA line form every other company has), I agree that it's complete [img]graemlins/bs.gif[/img]
Tell me how I can get a Fender USA Strat with H-S-S, H-H, S-S-S, black, chrome, or gold hardware, maple or rosewood board, and Floyd, hardtail, or v-trem but I can't seem to find a Jackson ANYTHING that has similar "options"?
I don't think Jackson is trying hard enough, or maybe someone's got a tight rope around them keeping them in their little "Metal" hole?

If you look at the swag, the new graphics, and the majority of the endorsees they're going more for a "metal" audience with Jackson. I think they're playing on the stigma that has plagued Jacksons forever as being "metal guitars". (shame how the guitarists endorsing these excellent guitars in the beginning were considered to be in 'hair bands') However the rest of us know how actually versitile these guitars are.

Personally, I'd like them to keep it more neutral...

yeah, i'd like to see that, too...but when you don't define your niche market, you can't expect to be too successful. that said, there could certainly be multi-niches, so to speak... you could go after the anderson/prs crowd with the swee-tones. kinda like a "no matter what you play, we've got you covered" attitude.
