I can't help it. I guess it's the neck, it's like an old shoe. I try to stay away, but I keep going back to it and picking it up again. I've sold Jacksons, Ibanez, Gibsons, Fenders etc, and not batted an eyelid, but I couldn't get rid of this. I need help.

My other 2 main guitars (I guess you would call them number 2 and number 3)are a Yamaha Weddington Classic, and an Aria Pro II CS400 (back when they made good guitars)

This may change when my Peavey Destiny is complete. I'm in the process of doing a refinish, and headstock repair.

Does anyone notice a trend here?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">If you're saying to hell with trems, its not very hard to a string through or hardtail guitar. I'm sure you know warmoth does all the routing, binding, and finishing if you want. All you ahve to do is put the proper screws where they belong, solder a few things, string it up and set it up. If you can't set it up spend $60 and have a tech set it up for you after you pieced it together.

How will it devalue? I mean all guitars devalue unless its some of the very first guitars made by a popular guitar company.

Many nice points though, nice to see genuine interest in the community.

Marshall, I have tried that route, and it seems im never happy with the end result.

Although tthe one nice thing I have learned with all my purchases is what I like and dont like. In the end, the one FOR SURE factor I know I like is the Wolfgang neck profile. I love its smooth oiled feel, and I dont get cramps when playing lots of chords (on my Ibanez RG620X I could cramp up after a while, minor arthritis in my hands)

I like 24 frets, I like easy access to those frets, but I am slowly realising that i NEVER play those last two frets, and I can still access the upper ones. (Yngwie, Lynch, etc, etc, etc, dont have any issues, they adapted)

I dont like bolton necks because it seems I could easily throw them out of whatck by shifting them. I think that can be remedied though.

I love the JAckson pointy headstock, and the look of the binding.

As for trems, I dunno.....*sigh* I like NOT having to worry about Floyd's and their setups, but I want to have an instrument to sit down with and be able to play EVERYTHING on!

I dont want to be limited by the instrument, it always made me wonder why people wouldnt want a neck-thru 24 fret guitar, its the EASIEST to play and versatile.

So I think something like a vintage trem would be a good route for me, or a wilkinson blocked with locking tuners and a decent nut.

As for pups, I like dual hums with the ability split them to singles. Versatile, has all the basics I need.

Piezo's are GREAT, I have had them on two guitars and would love one on whatever guitar I do up next, although not essential. I would like to pick up a Seagull in the near future!

if the PEavey Wolfgang or MM Axis was neckthru 24 frets, I think I would be VERY happy. Bu tthey arent, but I still think I can overcome the dislikes because I LOVE the neck feel. I find it inspiring, as opposed to the Ibanez Wizard necks I have owned and played. Zero comfort for my hands!

BEtter yet, id love an SL2H with a 24 fret neckthru Wolfgang profile. One a fixed bridge, the other a Floyd.

Until I start my new job, I think Ill get a Wolf special fixed bridge and be happy with that. ITs a decent guitar and I need to SIT DOWN for a few months and practicce and play, as opposed to gassing.

Although, its good to dream and to look forward to something new and better.
