Need help with buying guitar

1st post on this forum.. Heeello [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

I planning to buy a guitar. A new one is out of the question. Used. Only.
Anyway, I've got a Fender Stratocaster (Mid 80's, Japan) that i bought a year ago(first guitar [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img] ). It has a nice clean sounds but when the distortion kicks in...it sounds like ass.

I want a Jackson that can give me a nice clean tone, but also a good distorted tone (Like Maiden, Megadeth etc etc). Both lead and rhytm that is
Should i get one with only humbuckers or some other setup?

You can likely find a used USA Jackson for that price on Ebay (provided no one here goes whacko on it [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] )

I personally prefer to have 2 hums rather than h-s-s, since you can split a neck hummer, but can't do jack with a single to make it beefy [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

Then again, route that neck single into a hummer and be done with it:

I live in Sweden and I believe guitars here are alot more expensive than it is in US

I've found a Charvel Mod 5, Jackson Fusion Plus, a Jackson Dinky Reverse so far. Still looking around the Swedish ebay-ripoff-sites for more

They had a really nice Jackson soloist in a local gtr shop. Sharkfins.. nice colour.. very very nice. mmm [img]graemlins/drool2.gif[/img]
But then again.. It costed around $1500. And it wasn't even US made

I HIGHLY recommend the Charvel Model 5. I can't imagine you not liking that model as it's a neck through(unless you prefer bolt-ons like your strat [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img] ) and plays like butter. Is it a Kahler trem model or a JT6(floyd copy) trem? In any case, they are and excellent value for the money.

Just a sugestion, but I would go with a two hum model. USA used or mid entry Jackson/Charvel new or used.
You all ready have the single coil tone with the Fender.

Yeah if the Model 6 I just picked up is any indication I'd go for the Model 5. Killer guitars at killer prices.

Haven't tried the Model 5 or any of the guitars I mentioned earlier, 'cause the sellers doesn't live in my town
Anyway, the Mod. 5 had a pretty good price I think, but it was VERY ugly. Like purple metallic..yuck

Well also what kind of amp do you have? I mean if you've been playing for a year, are you sure its not your amp that sounds like crud when you get into the distortion?
