• May be joining the fold soon...

I have lurked here awhile, my hard rock roots just draw me to boards about brands like Jackson(although my current guitars are G&Ls).
I need some opinions, please:
My local shop was a Charvel & jackson dealer until recently. He's blowing out the 2 Charvel Standards he has, a black one & a blue one, for $399!
I've been playing them both since they came in. The only problems I can see are the nut slots are too tight(I can fix that)and the rounding of the fretboard between the frets makes it look as though the wood the frets are in would tear out if I ever got a re-fret.
Sound-wise, these things are great(Seymour Duncans, baby!)and the necks feel SOOOO good!
At $399, I think it's a steal. What do you guys think? I think the blue one and I have bonded...

Sounds like you found a keeper, and that's worth the price alone
It might be a little steep for an import, but if you like it enough, it's worth it IMO.

a little steep? For a BRAND NEW import? I think that's a great price, considering it's half what they were selling for when they came out. They're not much dearer than DK2s now.
Hail yesterday

$399 is a good price for those. They're quite underrated. In ten years or so, people will finally realise how cool they are (Model series, anyone? )

Sorry - should have said 'It's a little steep compared to the original Model series which can be had on Ebay, like neckthrough Model 5s and 6es'

A flat out great ROCK guitar, though I'll play some blues on it as well.
The amp I used was a Peavey Triple XXX. I own 2 Fenders: a 1971 Champ, and a Deluxe Reverb Reissue. So I think I may try to bring the Triple XXX home early next year. Why waste the potential of the Charvel Standard, right? It's gonna need some gain!
