In defense of the new headstock let me say I like it more on the v than the SLS.
Plus it adds another facet of uniquness to the Jackson line. [img]graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

Makes it look a bit more Gibsony, which is not a bad thing! Only on the KV though; it looks bad on the Soloist IMO.

BTW, in your sig, the word should be "awfully", not "offully", which isn't really a word.

I like it on the Soloist & when I talk to younger
players they always tell me the 2 major reasons
they don't like Jacksons are #1 the standard (pointy) headstock shape & #2 FLOYDS. They do
like the harpoon headstock shape & the string
thru bridge. I guess what I am saying is I am
glad Jackson is making some new designs along
with the traditional stuff they have always done
great!

The thing that makes the KV2T headstock look 'wrong' is those pearloid tuners [img]graemlins/puke.gif[/img]
Totally out of place IMO. They shoulda stuck with black and chrome.

As for the SLS and other Strat-shapes, I guess they're ok. The young'uns will just have to get over the fact that a Jackson headstock doesn't look like a PRS or Ibenhad [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I have been slobbering over the slsmg since I first saw a pic [img]graemlins/drool2.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I like the sls head stock and I'm glad to see that Jackson is bringing some variety to some familiar shapes. I think there is an obvious effort on the part of FMIC to not "rebuild" so much as "build" the Jackson line and it's list of players. Good stuff ! [img]graemlins/toast.gif[/img]

I love the makeup of the SLS, especially the 24.75 scale!! The one thing that might keep me from buying it though, would be the bridge, not the headstock, I prefer Tunamatic Stopbar bridges, over string thru designs, but I don`t mind the headstock at all, I like both pointy headstocks and the SLS headstock. Jack.

jacksons headstocks of the 80's and longer has always been the pointy headstock and floyds.....even the charvels......

so i think.....if you dont like the pointy headstock.......you dont like jackson...

i'll never own a jackson with that headstock.....

Can someone post a pic of the so called "new" headstock? The SLS style headstock is not new, if this is the one I'm thinking of. It's about 6 years old. I have a Warrior Custom Shop with that 3X3 headstock from three years ago...

Yes, Joe, it's the same headstock on your Warrior. The '99 catalog also had a green Custom Shop Warrior with that headstock. It's really not that new, but I think it was only put into production last year, though, on the import SLSMG, now the new USA SLS Soloist and the USA KV2T.

No, it was on many of the imports in 1996 onward as well. The USA AT Soloists had it too over six years ago. So it's been on quite a few import, USA, and Custom Shop Jacksons for over half a decade now...

Oh yeah, it was on those old AT models. And now that I think about it, it was on the DX6 and JX10 from the 2000 catalog, also.

That headstock was on the super dinkies and some stealths also. I have to admit I favor the slsmg as far as cosmetics go over the SLS for its simplicity. Would like the SLSMG to be 24 3/4" scale though. I think I might spring for a SLS select just for the scale.

I like the 3x3 headstock on those guitars. I prefer it on the KV but I would gladly accept either as a gift.
