Not by people in the know, or Jackson fans.
You are a Jackson fan, aren't you?

I think that would have let it stay more free and "rad" than Fender will, in regard to JCF models, the custom shop and so forth.

That's my gut feeling anyway.

The problem with BIG corporation is that the people who make decisions are no longer guitar enthusiasts, but businessmen who measure everything in dollars. And so the art is lost...

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">do you mean it would have stayed free and "rad" like it was under the guidance of the music "enthusiasts" at Akai Musical Instruments Corp? IIRC Fender's last change of ownership involved a bunch of employees buying the company from a big corporation, so Fender is now owned by a bunch of guitar builders and musicians. The guys from Fender that have posted here have been very forthcoming with information and come across as real guitar fans, not just suits. Fender have also dropped some money on advertising and a much-improved website - under AMIC, Kevin Easton was seriously overworked as he worked on catalogue layouts, product design, artist liaison AND put together a low budget website that, whilst a lot of fun and full of cool bits of news & product info, looked like it was put together by a Jackson fan on his bedroom computer after school. Amongst all this, KEvil also had to explain to us here at the JCF why Jackson wasn't being advertised in the guitar mags and getting that exposure. Of course, as soon as Fender took over and started advertising in the guitar mags, folks here started screaming "sellout", talking about how the big advertising was going to push the price of Jacksons thru the roof and running in circles with their hands in the air.

And under the new management, the JCF series, which was knocked on the head under AMIC, has been resurrected. Seems to me that Fender is trying to do right by Jackson. What other qualifications did Mustaine have to run the company, apart from being their Number One Endorser? We don't know that he wouldn't have run the place into the ground.

I have heard that Jeff hanneman of Slayer used Les pauls to record with, but I can`t confirm that, anyone? It doesn`t really matter what they use anywhere, I but guitars based on experience and I have found that Jackson-Hamer-Carvin-US Masters and Bakers are great guitars, but Bakers are very expensive, but once you play one you`ll realize how awsome they are, they eat PRS guitars for lunch. With regards to that interview, Im very suprised about what he said with the way megadeth was after Marty and Nick left. I always remember him talking about the new megadeth as the best lineup ever. Strange how he changes his tune.

But I still love Dave, and he is my no1 hero. ALthough what he said about the ESP V350 is

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Back in the day, he did. He played a black Les Paul on the old stuff live and in the studio (Show No Mercy, Hell Awaits). Not sure if he still used it today, though.

Ron: It's a safe bet that random guitar magazine interviewers don't really give a rat's ass about the semantics involved in specific model name bullshit. It's like jumping up someone's ass for saying James Hetfield plays ESP Explorers.

VitaminG: That's why it's a good idea not to type and talk to someone at the same time.

slayer: He recorded all of their albums through Raining Blood with a black Les Paul. It's all over the place in the Decade of Aggression booklet.

The new Jackson web site looks nice and pretty.

There was much more content and information on the old site, by leaps and bounds.

While it might have not looked the prettiest, I miss the old mothership. It didn't look cheap or unprofessional, it looked like the company was more interested in guitars than a website with fancy java menus and stuff that just doesn't add to the content.

Whens the last time anyone on the JacksonGuitars site received anything from the "email news subscription"?

In reality, how many of us get to see those JCF guitars? I am not, many others are not.

That is an issue Fender did not help me on.

A new website? I could care less about it.

I want a guitar company, that makes guitars for player, by players. It's that simple.

Will Fender ruin all the line ups? I highly doubt it? Do I think some of the changes were bad? You bet, I don't like the look of the block inlays and 3x3 headstocks.

What will they tell me? Buy a custom shop!
Do I care? How many used Jacksons are there out there?

Fenders changes affect me in the most minute way.
Am I upset Dave did not get to buy it? Nope, it would have been nice though.

People will always hate Dave, he speaks his mind, he holds a grudge, and he throws a fit. And to be honest, that's why I like him.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Changes? That headstock is NOT new. It's been around for like about 10 years. Fender's only owned Jackson for about a year.

toejam, maybe I should have been more correct.

It was on the AT1 the SDK1, the SLS the SLSMG and a few other models, but you did not see it with block inlays on a KV1.

That's actually not block inlays. It's double sharkfins with abalone "eye" in between.
