• VH Jackson found...ok, it wasn't lost but anyway...

Thought you'd all find this interesting. I was at St Charles Guitar Exchange the other day talking to Dan Martin. Some of you may know him. I've bought lots of Mesa gear from his shop and one of his guys wired up my rack rig years back. Anyway, he's got a pretty cool collection of rare, star owned axes. Out of the blue he says, "Yeah, I'm gonna have to break out Eddie's VH Jackson and put it on display." So I picked my jaw up, mopped up the small but noticeable puddle of drool, and asked him to, "go on please..." He said that after quite a few years, he was able to get Ed to sell the guitar to him but he didn't divulge price. I'm guessing that he was referring to the 1st one made which I believe went for around 20k. If it goes out soon, I'll snap some pics for anyone who wants to see them. I guess he's fairly tight with Ed as he said he's sold Eddie 109 guitars over the years. Now, I know that Dan can be difficult at times, but he's always given me a fair shake and has me on his "short list" so to speak. If you're ever in the STL area, the Guitar Exchange is a neat guitar shop to check out. Lot's of star owned stuff passes thru if that's your thing. He also had a Bob Dylan owned custom Tele and some Hendrix stuff. If you're into Les Pauls, and I'm definitely not, he has some ancient ones (late 50's) and some gorgeous newer stuff. He's rather encouraged with the Fender buyout. I guess from a dealer standpoint, you would be. Thought you'd all get a kick out of the VH guitar thing.

I got some Marshall stuff from Dan. He has the lowest prices I've seen for Marshall gear (GC didn't even want to match his price).

When you get those pics, be sure to post them here Maybe shoot off a copy for the Gallery.

There's no way EVH ever owned a Jackson. He basically hated Grover Jackson for copying his guitars.

Your boy traded a Mint 59 strat with a C neck for that guitar.

He hated Grover for copying his guitars but was just fine with Wayne Charvel doing it? Huh? Could you elaborate a bit more, because that's not making any sense right now.

are you talking about the guitar built in the shape of the VH II logo? Pat S. had posted pics of this thing last year. I think it was on display at the shop back then...

I don't know how this got all twisted around...Dan apparently owns a Jackson shaped like the VH symbol. It was allegedly Eddie's. Dan said he bought it from Eddie. Dan said he was gonna display it in his store. Das ist alles.

                        Hey Tmdiamond,

You live near St. Louis??? I have purchased (2) of my King Vs from Dan over the years......He does have some very cool gear there... I remember back in '86 Dan had a "Stienberger" cover-plate painted with Ed's "Colors".
