Hey guys and gals...
I'm the one who created the guitar generator. Let me say I appreciate the kind words everyone has expressed thus far. I really appreciate those who said it was better than the kisekae site - that was my goal.
There is still room for improvement in the generator. Let me address a few of the questions that have been asked:
Q: What's up with the sharkfin on the 24th fret?
A: Oops. That's my fault. If everyone wants, I'll delete in the next time there is an update.
Q: When will there be more body shapes?
A: Geez, you guys are impatient! More body shapes will come. I will probably get to the pointy styles before doing a soloist; soloists are available on Kisekae, but it is doubtful they would ever add a Warrior or Kelly, so I would rather work on those first. When I get the energy to add a new shape, I will do a poll. Whichever model gets the most votes wins. Also, I would like to add a few more common options before I add new body styles. LSR tuners and Kahler trems come to mind. I also hate the interface for the knobs and switches, so that could get a facelift as well.
Q: Will the guitar generator be available as a CD so I can use it when I'm not online?
A: Yes! When a few more body styles get added, I'll create a CD. For now, you can retrieve it out of your browser's cache; each body style is one large file, so it is easy to grab it and save it to your hard drive.
Q: The pickup spacing looks off.
A: I went through great pains to make sure that positioning of all of the elements are accurate. It is possible that something may be off a pixel or two. But they shouldn't ever be off more than that, if at all.
I would like to thank the admins for their support of this endeavor. It all began quite innocently when Sully saw my brushed aluminum Rhoads mockup I did in Fireworks, and asked "Hey - do you think you could create a guitar generator for the forum?". Well, here we are. He was also an incredible resource for me when I had questions or needed another set of eyes. Thanks also to Jeremy for adding it to the site, and for his suggestions as well. Our friend McD from Jackson HQ even offered some suggestions, and the rumor is the guys at the shop love it! One last thanks to Newc for his measurements on the King V, and for keeping the link to my site a secret.
Anyway, enjoy, my friends, and Merry Christmas.
